Helping Deb with the Site

Hi, my name is Karen, I'm from a small town in central Massachusetts.  My husband was in the Army 22 years & just retired last July 2006 & now our son has joined the Army.  So i'm an army wife & now an Army mom.  I'm going to be assisting Deb with this site.  My son is 19 & he is also at FOB Summerall in Bayji Iraq.  He arrived there about 4 months ago & will be there until this summer.  He is with the 82nd ABN 1-505 & is doing well.  I was glad to hear that they had a nice Thanksgiving spread there with lots of good food to eat.  He  said he even got to drink some of his favorite "egg nog".  I was happy to hear that.  Well I will be helping Deb continue this site on & we will be working together to get some things updated, hopefully post some new info & pictures & run the site so friends & families that have loved ones at Camp Summerall can stay in touch.  I hope everyone has all their Christmas pkgs sent to their soldiers.  My son called this am & said he got the xmas tree i sent him & they loved it.  It sure was a tiny one though lol.  But its the little things from home that cheer them & help them get thru.  Don't forget them after Christmas though during the down months of Jan & Feb - might be nice to send a "pick them up" afterthought pkg during those months so its not like they get bombarded with gifts during December then almost none in Jan & Feb.  Just a thought.  :)    Please keep our soldiers & their families in your prayers during the holidays & always.  I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Safe & Happy New Year.  Karen :)

2LT James Harville

Hello, my name is 2LT James Harville and I am the Batallion Chemical Officer for TF 1-7. I arrived in Germany 2 months prior to deploying to Iraq so I'm still getting used to everyone in my unit. I will have to say to those families of soldiers in the states and in Germany, I am extremely impressed with everyone here and the level of professionalism and motivation seen everyday in the faces and actions of the soldiers serving with TF 1-7. You have nothing to worry about, we are getting the job done. If any of you have any questions, feel free to ask. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones across Iraq and continue to remember those families separated by this deployment. Keep us in your prayers and Keep your Faith in US to accomplish the mission.

1LT(P) Bolton, Mark

Greetings to all from Bayji:

It is always a pleasure to have another website to communicate with other Army Families. I am currently attached to HHB 1/7 FA BN as an OIC for the ICDC (Iraqi Civil Defense Corps). Know that we are making great strides on a daily basis in building a stronger security force for Iraq. My wife Tanya is located at our home base in Schweinfurt, Germany and would love to help all spouses through her employment with the USO. So anyone out there wanting to travel Europe, she can be reached at DSN 354-6711. She'd be glad to spread the Louisiana Hospitality to All!!!! Take care and god bless.

Shared Email

I received this in email. I was given permission to share it , It is from ALal..from the email list.

4/18/04: Brandon is an Army medic in Alpha Co, 1-26 Infantry, 1-7 Field Artillery. He called home 4/16, the first time we've heard from him since he went to Iraq from Schweinfurt, Germany. He said they left Germany mid-February for 3 weeks of desert training in Kuwait before going to Bayji, Iraq. He indicated when they went through Tikrit on the way to Bayji, nearly every building had been destroyed. He said it was 104 degrees the day before he called. Bayji is almost exclusively occupied by U.S. military, and it's a fortress. The Iraqis have all left town. He tried to reassure me that the soldiers are very well-trained and well-fortified in Bayji. But, at the same time, they have done patrols in Bradley tanks and have come under fire and had to defend themselves. They have also had casualties but he didn't elaborate much.

It is okay to share my email with others.

Please include this soldier in your prayers.
